FIRE!!!

It started just like any other day. We got ready to leave for Branson, Mo for a couple of months. But the first stop was in Golden, Mo to get tires for the coach. John had found this place that had Handkook tires that were the best price he had found. Believe me he had searched and researched, make about a million (more or less) calls. When we got to the tire shop, we got out and noticed smoke coming from the suv.
Yes the auxilliary braking system had locked up and the brake line hoses had caught on fire. John ran and got the fire extinguisher out of the car and used it, then told me to get the one out of the coach and he used it to finally get it out.
Is this not pitiful looking? So we got unhooked and John drove on into the bay to get the tires installed. There was a couple that had stopped to see if we needed help and told us there was a repair shop just down the road. John got the phone book got the number and gave him a call. He had a car hauler and said he would send it down in about an hour.
First of all we are thankful it only burned the brakes, it could have been so much worse, the suv burned up along with burning up the coach. We believe it was a God thing where and when it happened. So no complaining from us!
When we got the tires on, stopped by the repair shop to see if Mike (the manager: really nice guy) had any damage estimate. He had a rough estimate, about 34oo dollars. This was on Monday, on Thursday we called and rented a car for a week. Mike thought he might have the suv ready by Monday, but we thought it might be Tuesday, so decided on a week to be safe. Sure enough it was ready on Tuesday, with all new brakes and 2 new tires. Total cost: $3340.65. We think it happened on a real sharp right turn, the line probably got caught and pulled the pin for the brake to apply. Drove it like that for 7 miles. So needless to say John won't hook that line up again.
There are 2 more blogs after this, if you are not completely worn out, read on. I hope everyone is staying cool!

Repair costs to our Vue after it separated from our motorhome in Nova Scotia recently were similar to yours. We are also thankful no one was injured. We've made up our minds to go back out west this winter. Where are you two going to be? Staying west or FL?

About Me

We are in our 3rd year of full timing driving a coach and towing a SUV. How we would like to have our VW back! Hope you enjoy the blogs and I hope even more to have something interesting on it.
